How do you find your motivation?

My motivation is very similar to Mr. Darcy’s good opinion: once lost, it seems to be lost forever.

I keep finding little spurts, but they fade away far too quickly to be of any real use. I know that to avoid bad habits (like Peeps) I should really just so a sugar detox. But then that motivation problem rears its ugly head again, and Cadbury Cream Eggs have appeared next to me. Yes, I’m using Easter candy to illustrate my habits, but it would be the same whether those delicious confections were or were not around.

Well, that’s about it. I can’t stay motivated for more than a couple of hour at a time. I want to fix it, but I don’t know how.

How do you do it?

Apparently my new main criteria for clothes shopping is whether it will still fit when I lose weight

And if not, whether or not I could turn it into workout gear.

That’s an okay place to be, right?

Hey. Hey guys.

I fixed my stride!

I’ve been trying to figure out why running was so painful for me, and after some research I realized that I was running on my heels. I mean, it worked, but it hurt A LOT.

I just got back from a run, and it seems I’ve finally learned to hit the pavement properly. My shins don’t hurt at all!

Score one for the good guys!

You want to know how I relearned running? I ran in the sand everyday I was on vacation in Oregon. Running barefoot in the dunes made things seem so much easier. I think barefoot running is the way to go with this.

I suppose I do owe you an explanation for my extended absence

Nearly 8 months ago, I met a boy.

That boy made me feel wonderful. Happy, attractive, fulfilled… all of it.

Gradually, I lost track of what I was eating. I stopped making healthy choices when we went out. I started buying lunch at work because I was never home to make it for myself. I started grabbing boxes of cereal for dinner because I hadn’t been grocery shopping in (at one dramatic point in time) 3 weeks.

I stopped tumblr-ing because he was always there. My life was taking off in so many directions that I didn’t think I had time to connect with my friends anymore.

Then, right around the holidays, I realized that I had gained back all of the weight I had lost. And more. After some starts and stops, I finally started eating better, with the support of the boy.

Then, about a month ago, the boy and I broke up.

There was a lot of drama, and I have since realized a lot about the months in between.

I’ve also come back to tumblr, because long before the boy made me happy, you all did a much better job of it. And I have missed you all, dearly. I hope you’ll take me back.

Cheery, right?

Super Easy Salmon Stir Fry

I just finished eating a big bowl of this for lunch. It was awesome, and filling, and had great flavor. It’s also crazy healthy and fast to put together.

Ingredients

  • 1 (small) can sliced bamboo shoots, drained
  • 1 (small) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 (small) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 (large) can pink salmon (I used a full can, but by the time I deboned and degrossed it, it was down to about half a can’s worth of actual meat)
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • small chunk ginger (decide how much you want based on your own flavor preferences, then grate it straight into the pan)
  • 1 tbsp black bean and garlic sauce
  • 2 tbsp aji mirin
  • dash sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/2 tbsp soy paste (also optional, can be replaced with soy sauce)
  • dash rice vinegar

Use a huge (I mean HUGE) pan, and heat it up as hot as possible. Then, all together, throw in the garlic, celery, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and ginger.

Cook, tossing every once in a while, for a few minutes. Mix the black bean and garlic sauce, the mirin, the soy paste/sesame oil/any other sauce you want (if using), then add to the pan. Toss well, than add in the salmon. Toss, cook about 2 or 3 minutes, then serve.

Exercise more in general

  • Do both March challenges - jumping jacks and core

Eat healthier foods

  • Try to stay fairly low carb
  • Avoid processed sugars and starches
